Start up the hill

"You know what," you pull away from Ksenija a little, shrugging. "I think I'll hang on to this. That's a nice ring and all, but I like this better."

Ksenija's face doesn't move, but you can tell she's pissed. "Phone's for customers only."

You try to look amiable, no problem, its just business. "I understand. Sorry for taking up your time. I'll just go now."

Ksenija looks extra pissed, but turns her face into a grimace that you know is meant to be a smile. "Fine. Ok. You done wasting my time now, go on!" Her voice takes on a slight, Russian-sounding accent. She practically stomps over to the front door and pointedly holds it open as you scuttle through. You don't have time to say goodbye before the door slams shut.

Weird, but for some reason you didn't want to hand your amulet over. She was kind of menacing, anyway. Whatever, there's a whole town just up the hill and someone there will definitely let you use a phone for free.

You walk past Ksenija's yard and her goat, staring in your direction with its unnerving horizontal pupils.
